UNHCR launched 10-year global campaign to end issue of statelessness

According to the UNHCR, at least 10 million of people worldwide are currently stateless and a baby is born stateless every 10 minutes. Stateless persons are deprived of basic human rights such as education, health care and employment. These "legal ghosts" often live in the poverty and are exposed to high risk of discrimination and exploitation. With an Open Letter, the UNHCR has launched the global campaign for stateless persons "I Belong" -To a world where everyone has the right to a nationality. The aim of campaign, which will last until 2024, is to end suffering of stateless people worldwide.
