On 27 October 2016 in the Small Hall of Brod – Posavina County, a preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Coordination of Councils of National Minorities was held. The meeting, which was held as part of the session of the Committee on Human Rights and National Minorities of Brod – Posavina County, was attended by members of the Committee, representatives of the County, the presidents of Serbian and Roma Councils of the City of Slavonski Brod and ILC.
During the meeting, the possibilities of establishing the the Coordination in the Brod – Posavina County were discussed and it was noted that its establishment depends on the will and interest of national minorities. The future role of the Coordination and the manner of its functioning was also discussed. All present participants welcomed the idea of the Coordination, but have concluded that it is necessary to hold another meeting to which, the representatives of national minorities from the area of Brod – Posavina County should be invited as well.
A preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Coordination of Councils of National Minorities was organized by ILC in collaboration with partners in the project - HILS from Osijek, Brod – Posavina County and the Network of Roma CSOs in Croatia through the project "Legal inclusion and sustainable integration of Roma in Croatia", which is financed by the European Union from IPA 2012 "Strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations to ensure the effective implementation of EU standards in the realization of human rights" and co – financed by the Office for CSOs, Government of Republic of Croatia.
