On 29 March 2016, a community meet "Employment Opportunities in Baranja", organized by ILC, was held in Bolman at the community center.
Guests of the panel were Ms. Nada Sinko, head of the Croatian Employment Service branch Beli Manastir, Mr. Stevo Mlinarevic, Deputy Mayor of Jagodnjak and g. Dusko Kostic, President of LUNA.
In her statement, Ms. Sinko stressed that currently they do not have the information on when public works should start and how many people will be able to take employment by these measures by CES. She informed all attendants about the opportunities offered to them through the CES that are related to retraining, facilitating to complete their elementary education, training, employment mediation etc., with the aim of promoting employment. She added that they are currently requiring seasonal workers to work at sea and urged those present to apply if they meet the criteria.
Mr. Mlinarevic stressed the difficult situation in the municipality of Jagodnjak mentioning that 50% of the working age population is unemployed. Other population engaged in agriculture also has difficulty with existence because of the low price of buying grain, milk and so on. He also commented on the inability of the Municipality to encourage employment because they do not have projects through which they could employ, and even public works have not started.
Mr. Kostic from associations LUNA informed those present about the projects implemented in the Baranja region referring to the education of young people and adults. He called on all interested parties who have not completed primary school to come forward and make use of the possibility of free primary education completion. He pointed out that people who have not completed primary school and without a diploma for simple occupation will not be able to work even on public works such as handling mower or trimmer.
Public forum was attended by 37 residents of Bolman, who were very active in asking questions /comments and seeking advice from guests.
The forum was also attended by national and local media who informed the public about the event.
Community meeting was held within the project "Legal inclusion and sustainable integration of Roma in Croatia", which is financed by the European Union from the IPA 2012 "Strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations to ensure the effective implementation of EU standards in the realization of human rights" and co-financed by the Office for Cooperation with CSOs.
