From the 1st of July 2014, Information Legal Center (ILC) implements project named “Raising Awareness on Human Rights among Women Members of Roma National Minority in Brod-Posavina County” with financial support of the Government Office for Human Rights and Rights of National Minorities.
The overall objective of the project is promotion of position of Roma women in the area of Brod-Posavina County through provision of equal access to the human rights and provision of support at bypassing system obstacles in exercising rights on legal subjectivity, and in access to socioeconomic rights.
This project will raise awareness of women, members of Roma national minority, on their human rights by participation in the project activities, empower the role of Roma women in the community, young Roma women will raise awareness about importance of acceptance of their Roma identity and that will lead to enhancement of their self-confidence so as to be proactive in responsibility assumption for own health and school attendance.
Through facilitated access to information and free legal assistance, Roma will be assisted in removals of barriers that are on their way in every aspect of life, namely those related to obtaining personal documents as due to lack of documents they cannot exercise any other right - on education, employment, health care, social welfare.
The project will be implemented in the city Slavonski Brod in the local community “Josip Rimac” close to the Roma settlement, and in the ILC office where free legal assistance to the project beneficiaries will be provided.
The direct beneficiaries of this project are members of Roma national minority with special emphasis on young Roma women, and indirect beneficiaries are members of Roma national minority of Brod-Posavina County, as well as other citizens, civil society organizations, local institutions, Councils of Roma national minority and local self-government.
