From 1 August to 31 December 2014, Information Legal Center (ILC) had implemented the project named „Free Legal Assistance to Vulnerable Social Groups in Brod-Posavina County“.
The above mention project was financed by the Ministry of Justice.
The overall objective of the project was to facilitate access to information and free legal assistance to Roma population and to assist them in removing barriers that are on their way in every aspect of life, namely those related to obtaining personal documents as due to lack of documents they cannot exercise any other right – on education, employment, health care, social welfare.
The major part of activities in the project related to Roma population in Brod-Posavina County. Regardless of significant achievements in solving particular issues of members of Roma national minority and inclusion during last several years, numerous inherited issues on one hand, and exposure to discrimination, intolerance and prejudice on the other hand, remain crucial obstacles to their full integration into society.
Besides primary legal assistance that was the key project activity, Information Legal Center informed the public on its activities and work on raising awareness inside their local community on unenviable position of socially marginalized groups throughout the project implementation.
The project was implemented in the city Slavonski Brod, local community “Josip Rimac” where ILC held public meetings and in the ILC office where free legal assistance was provided to the project beneficiaries.
